Adventure Travel Package Terms

Last updated: October 2026

These terms apply when you buy a DRT adventure travel package. Packages are sold combined and itemized on your invoice as either “Travel package + Seminar” or “Travel package.” The seminar portion is governed by the Seminar Registration Agreement and the Refund, Cancellation, Transfer & Grievance Policy. The travel portion is governed by these terms, the package details disclosed at booking, and the terms of the travel suppliers.

1. What a package includes

Each package includes only the items listed in its written package description, which may include lodging, certain meals, ground transfers, and guided excursions. Unless the description says otherwise, packages do not include international or domestic airfare, travel insurance, passports, visas, vaccinations, tips, personal expenses, or optional activities.

2. Guests

Non-participant guests and family members may join the travel portion when a package allows it. Only registered participants may attend seminar sessions and hands-on labs. Guests under 18 must be accompanied and supervised by a parent or legal guardian at all times. Every adult traveler must accept these terms.

3. Travel suppliers

Hotels, cruise lines, airlines, tour operators, guides, and transportation companies are independent suppliers, not DRT employees or agents. Each supplier’s own terms, including cancellation deadlines and non-refundable deposits, apply to its services. To the extent permitted by law, DRT is not responsible for supplier acts, omissions, delays, cancellations, injuries, or losses.

4. Payment and cancellation of the travel portion

Payment deadlines and the cancellation schedule for the travel portion are stated in the package details at booking. Because suppliers often require non-refundable deposits, travel-portion refunds are limited to amounts DRT is able to recover from suppliers, less any non-refundable costs stated at booking. Wait for DRT’s written registration confirmation before you buy flights or other travel you cannot cancel.

5. Changes and events beyond our control

DRT or its suppliers may change itineraries, accommodations, or activities because of weather, safety, government action, natural disasters, health emergencies, supplier failure, or other events beyond reasonable control. DRT will try to provide comparable alternatives. If DRT cancels a package, it will refund the amounts it has received and is able to recover, or offer a credit toward a future package.

6. Travel documents, health, and insurance

You are responsible for valid passports, visas, entry and exit requirements, vaccinations, health documentation, and following local laws. You must be physically able to take part in the activities you choose. DRT strongly recommends comprehensive travel insurance, including trip cancellation, medical, and evacuation coverage.

7. Assumption of risk

Travel and adventure activities, such as hiking, boating, swimming, and visiting historic or remote sites, carry risks, including injury, illness, and property loss. You choose to participate voluntarily and accept those risks. The release in the Participant Consent, Assumption of Risk & Release also applies to travel activities to the extent permitted by law.

8. Conduct

The DRT Code of Conduct applies throughout the trip. DRT may remove a traveler whose conduct endangers others or seriously disrupts the group, without refund, and the traveler is responsible for their own costs of returning home.

9. Taxes

DRT does not provide tax advice. Travel package payments are not charitable donations. Please consult your tax advisor about how tax rules apply to your situation.
